VCU cruises past USF men’s hoops

The USF men’s basketball team stumbled in its first true road test of the season, falling Wednesday night at VCU, 69-46.

The game was tied at 28 at the half but some hot perimeter shooting from the Rams (eight 3-pointers) coupled with a poor offensive performance by the Bulls (six field goals) turned the game into a rout.

Senior forward Ron Anderson Jr. led the Bulls with 15 points and nine rebounds, while sophomore forward Victor Rudd also reached double figures with 10 points, though he had just one point after halftime. Freshman point guard Anthony Collins, making his first career start, had six assists but also had six of the Bulls 15 turnovers.

Troy Daniels led four VCU players in double figures with 17 points, while Bradford Burgess had 15, with 13 in the second half.

USF (5-3) plays at No. 15 Kansas on Saturday.
