The USSF Division II’s two Canadian rivals face off for the second time in the league and fourth time overall at the Stade Saputo on Wednesday night.
VANCOUVER (5-2-6) AT MONTREAL (4-3-5): Both teams drew on Saturday, but in very different manners. Vancouver had to hold on for a point against AC St. Louis after Cornelius Stewart was sent off in the 65th minute.
Montreal had to rally from two goals down against Carolina, a stoppage-time penalty kick by Tony Donatelli earning the Impact a point on the road.
The Whitecaps will be without Stewart tonight, but will have Zurab Tsiskaridze available after serving a suspension for yellow card accumulation. The two teams drew twice in the Nutrilite Canadian Championship earlier this season and also played to a 0-0 draw in their first league meeting this season. With a win, Montreal would cut the Whitecaps’ lead atop the NASL Conference to just one point with a game in hand.
