USSF D-II: Rochester finishes road-trip in Carolina

Carolina and Rochester each try to gain ground on the leaders of their respective conferences as the two sides meet in the USSF Division II’s Tuesday night action.

ROCHESTER (8-5-6) AT CAROLINA (6-3-6): The Rhinos suffered a tough defeat in Puerto Rico on Saturday and will try to bounce back against a RailHawks side that has had a 10-day break since defeating the Rhinos 1-0 in their last outing.

Carolina trails NASL Conference leader Vancouver by six points, but has four games in hand having played only 15 games so far, the fewest in the league. Sallieu Bundu scored the only goal in their win against the Rhinos, but they needed a big performance from Eric Reed who made seven saves for the shutout.

Rochester’s Isaac Kissi has scored two goals in the past two games, but the Rhinos will be without Aaron Pitchkolan after his red card on Saturday. They could also be without captain Frankie Sanfillipo, who according to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle was still in Rochester on Monday afternoon waiting for his wife Melissa to give birth to their first child.

Having a great time following the league this season. Free streamed games online, and this blog is second to none! With The Rowdies currently in playoff position in the 8th spot (23 points), here is my outlook for the next few weeks.

Teams we want to win:
1. Austin (dont think they will be caught in the standings)
2. Vancouver (going for them from here out, someone has to win the other division)
3. Rochester (I wouldnt have listed them if we had won last Thursday!)

Teams who we need to lose:
1. Puerto Rico
2. Montreal
3. Carolina (3 games in hand!)
4. Portland (ends season on 4 game road trip!)
5. Minnesota (have played 21 games already!)

Teams in the rearview:
1. Baltimore
2. St. Louis (next 5 games are at home)
3. Miami

Watching the games on line is great for people
like me who live outside of Florida but for people in the Tampa area they should be going to as many game as they can,I’ve made the trip down to two game myself, I think the Rowdies need to average at the least 4k fans per game to survive. It definitely has been fun watching the league and yes this blog has been great.

Ive been to every home game, and the only thing keeping people away is the occasional bad weather/scorching heat! The Rowdies are averaging over 4000 for home games, which is great for a first year team. Im also impressed that the ownership/management has allowed for a ‘ticket exchange’ in which you can use the tickets from a game you couldnt make it to at another game. The ownership seems very in touch with the fan base, and its an experience that is well worth the money (unlike a Rays game!)
