Carolina grabs a late equalizer, while Miami earns a point in Montreal in Sunday’s USSF Division II action.

MIAMI 1, MONTREAL 1: Honors ended even at the Stade Saputo as both sides scored in the first half of Sunday’s contest.

Christian Gomez gave Miami the lead in the ninth minute, his second goal of the season. After a corner by Euzebio Neto was deflected by Hicham Aaboubou, the ball came to Gomez who drove the ball home.

The Blues lead wouldn’t last long, though, as Montreal equalized from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute after Peter Byers was brought down in the penalty area. Tony Donatelli converted from the penalty spot.

Gomez almost gave Miami the lead again in the 29th minute, his free kick being tipped over the crossbar by Montreal goalkeeper Srdjan Djekanovic. Miami goalkeeper Caleb Patterson-Sewell also had to be sharp, saving from Leonardo Di Lorenzo around the hour-mark on a free kick from 20 yards.

PORTLAND 1, CAROLINA 1: The RailHawks late-game heroics struck again as Daniel Paladini scored in second-half stoppage time to steal a point against the Timbers.

Ryan Pore’s league-leading eighth goal of the season had given the Timbers the lead in the 61st minute, and it appeared it would be enough to give his side their first win in over a month. But with almost the final kick of the game, Paladini fired home from close-range from Etienne Barbara’s cross to give the RailHawks a point.
