In Sunday’s Tampa Tribune, Bill Ward did a tremendous profile on former University of South Florida hurdler Damu Cherry, who has qualified for the Summer Olympics in the 100-meter hurdles.
Cherry never won a state title at Leto High School and never won a conference title at USF, but she is ranked No. 2 in the world - even after overcoming a two-year suspension in 2003 for failing a drug test for a banned substance. Cherry has steadfastly maintained she has never knowingly taken any performance-enhancing drugs.
Cherry also is providing a blog for TBO from China where USF fans can remain updated on her experiences at the Olympics in Beijing.
