University of South Florida men’s soccer player Chris Blais was named the Big East Conference’s Goalkeeper of the Week following his performance in the Bulls’ season-opening victory Saturday at Wake Forest.
Blais, a graduate student in his first season at USF after transferring from Michigan, made seven saves in the 2-0 victory over the Demon Deacons, who were ranked as high as No. 13 nationally in one collegiate poll.
“There were times Wake had us on our heels and he slowed it down,” USF assistant coach Bryheem Hancock said in a press release. “There were times when we needed a guy to push the guys in front of them a little bit just to keep them in the game. I thought he did that.”
