USF senior goalkeeper Jeff Attinella is keeping some good company these days.
Attinella is one of 39 players nationally named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List. The Hermann Trophy is awarded annually to the nation’s top men’s and women’s soccer player.
Attinella raised his profile last season when he became just USF’s second first-team All-American under men’s soccer coach George Kiefer. Attinella, who is from Safety Harbor, was 14-4-3 as a junior while posting seven shutouts and a 0.83 goals-against average.
“I’m really excited because I know that it’s a big honor to be named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List,” Attinella told the school’s official website.
Said Kiefer: “I feel that he’s the best goalkeeper in the country, combined with his character both on and off the field, he’s a guy that you love being a part of what we’re doing here at USF.”
