VERO BEACH USF has lost a third player since opening fall practice, with Bulls coach Skip Holtz announcing Friday that senior receiver Faron Hornes is no longer with the team, apparently becoming an academic casualty.
Holtz said he recently learned that Hornes was “unable to attend the university,” but declined to offer any more specifics on the situation. Hornes was sent home from Vero Beach on Thursday, Holtz said.
Hornes, listed as a co-second teamer at the Slot receiver position with junior Victor Marc coming out of spring practice, had 11 catches for 135 yards and a touchdown in 2010.
Holtz said he did not plan to bring another player to camp to fill Hornes’ roster spot with the Bulls scheduled to depart the Vero Beach Sports Village on Wednesday.
