USF women’s hoops falls to Idaho State

Jasmine Wynne scored 17 points and Tiffany Conner added a career-high 16, but it wasn’t enough to lift the University of South Florida women’s basketball team to a win in its opener at the Air Force Classic in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Friday,
Kaela Oakes scored a game-high 22 points to lead Idaho State to a 76-63 victory over the Bulls (5-4), who managed to take 22 more field-goal attempts but failed to capitalize by shooting 29 percent from the field.
All five of the Bulls starters - Wynne (6-for-16), Akila McDonald (0-2), Kaneisha Saunders (3-15), Caitlin Rowe (0-5) and Andrell Smith (2-10) - struggled shooting. Conner went 5-for-10, while another reserve, Sasha Bernard, went 3-for-5 overall and 2-for-3 from 3-point range in scoring eight points.
Wynne had a solid game before fouling out, also leading the team with nine rebounds and four steals. Conner added eight rebounds and three steals for the Bulls.
