The USF women’s basketball team is back in the win column. The Bulls rebounded from a season-opening loss to Florida A&M to defeat Saint Peter’s, 88-72, on Monday night at the Sun Dome.
Coach Jose Fernandez, who missed the season opener due to a severe case of divertculitis, was back on the bench to see Janae Stokes score a game-high 25 points.
“We’ve got to get a lot better in the next two months to be competitive in the Big East,’’ Fernandez said. “We’ve got another 11 of these to get a lot better.’‘
I’ll have more from Fernandez in a blog post later tonight. He had a couple of classic one-liners in talking about his absence. Meanwhile, back to the men’s game here courtside.
