The first quarter is in the books here at Raymond James Stadium with USF owning a 10-9 lead over the No. 20-ranked Mountaineers.
West Virginia recorded a safety on the final play of the quarter to trim the Bulls’ lead to a point.
Here are some first-quarter stats:
First downs: WV 5, USF 4
Rushing yards: WV 19, USF 55
Passing yards: WV 82, USF 49
Total yards: WV 101, USF 104
Penalties: WV 2-16, USF 1-1
What stands out to me? USF quarterback B.J. Daniels looked sharp running the offense in the quarter, running for 50 yards and completing a 49-yard touchdown pass to Carlton Mitchell on the Bulls’ first drive of the game.
I’ll check back in later.
