GAINESVILLE—The University of Florida Gators came up with an impressive drive of their own, but came up empty when PK Caleb Sturgis was wide left on a 39-yard field goal attempt with 2:14 remaining until halftime.
The USF Bulls still lead, 7-0.
The Gators, beginning at their own 10-yard line, drove to USF’s 22. On third-and-6, the pass from QB John Brantley to WR Deonte Thompson was broken up nicely by Bulls DB Mistral Raymond. UF’s drive was aided by a late-hit penalty assessed to Jacquain Williams early on.
USF has rushed for 122 yards and controlled the flow of the game.
We’ll be back at halftime for some thoughts.
