The USF football team moved up in both college football polls following Saturday’s 52-24 home victory over UTEP.
The Bulls rose two spots to No. 16 in the Associated Press Top 25 and rose three spots to No. 14 in the USA Today coaches poll. USF is now the highest ranked team from the Big East Conference. West Virginia, which had been the league’s top ranked team, fell to No. 22 in the AP poll and No. 23 in the USA Today poll following a home loss to LSU.
USF (4-0) travels to face Pittsburgh for its Big East opener on Thursday, a game that will be televised nationally on ESPN.
MITCHELL UPDATE: USF sophomore receiver Terrence Mitchell, injured while making a tackle on a fake punt attempt in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s win over UTEP and carted off the field on a stretcher, was diagnosed with a concussion, but the good news is he had been released from the hospital after being taken there as a precaution.
“Terrence Mitchell is in the building smiling and in great spirits. Prayers answered,” USF receivers coach Phil McGeoghan posted on his Twitter account Sunday morning.
