VERO BEACH USF starting quarterback B.J. Daniels watched the end of Tuesday morning’s practice from the sidelines after injuring his left hamstring late in the Bulls two-hour workout at the Vero Beach Sports Village.
Daniels, a redshirt junior entering his third season as the starter under center, suffered the injury while scrambling out of the pocket during team drills. He went down as he headed toward the sideline and remained on the ground for a few minutes before being able to get up and move around. USF trainers later wrapped an ice pack around Daniels’ left hamstring.
USF coach Skip Holtz was not made available to the media after practice, but Bulls quarterbacks coach Peter Vaas said early word he received on Daniels was encouraging.
“From what everybody’s telling us it’s not overly serious,” Vaas said. “He may miss this afternoon, but he should be OK.”
The Bulls are scheduled to practice again at 7:10 p.m. USF is expected to provide an update on Daniels’ injury later today.
