The University of South Florida’s opening game in the Big East baseball tournament against Notre Dame will have first pitch at 10:11 p.m. Cincinnati just defeated West Virginia 11-5.
If the Bulls win tonight, they’ll play Cincinnati at 8 p.m. If they lose, they’ll play West Virginia at 1 p.m. in an elimination game.
One other note: no matter how far USF’s season continues, freshman OF Ryan Lockwood will not play. It was thought Lockwood, who recently suffered a broken finger, would be available for pinch-running duties. But Lockwood said a recent visit to the doctor revealed if he was to jam the finger sliding into a base, the finger would require surgery.
So Lockwood, who has the nation’s longest hitting streak at 30 games, will not be used in any capacity the rest of the year. He was in street clothes before Tuesday’s opener against Notre Dame.
