The USF men’s soccer team earned its second victory this season against an opponent ranked in the Top 15 nationally on Sunday afternoon, topping visiting UC-Irvine, 2-0, at Corbett Soccer Stadium.
Midfielder Wesley Charpie staked the Bulls to a lead in the first half with his first career goal, and forward Dom Dwyer added some insurance in the second half by scoring his team-best sixth goal of the year. Goalkeeper Chris Blais made six saves to record his third shutout of the season.
USF, which improved to 4-2-1 on the year with the win against the No. 10 UC-Irvine (7-1), knocked off then-No. 154Wake Forest in its season opener.
