The USF men’s soccer team was picked to finish second in the Big East Conference’s Red Division this season in voting done by the league’s 16 head coaches.
The Bulls, who finished 9-6-4 and reached their fourth consecutive NCAA tournament in 2010, were picked behind 2010 NCAA runner-up Louisville, which was a near unanimous pick to win the division. The Cardinals received 15 of 16 first-place votes, with the other going to USF.
The first preseason match for George Kiefer’s squad is scheduled for Aug. 17 at Jacksonville, and the Bulls will also host the University of Tampa in an exhibition Aug. 23, the first game in the new Corbett Soccer Stadium.
USF opens the regular season Aug. 27 at Wake Forest.
