The USF men’s soccer team enjoyed a record run on its way to claiming its first Big East Conference Red Division title since 2005.

The Bulls finished the regular season with an 11-game unbeaten streak, matching the 1966 squad, which finished 10-0-1, for the longest such streak in program history. Also, with a 7-0-1 mark in Big East play, USF became just the sixth league program since 1990 – and 14th overall – to finish without a conference loss.

The Bulls (12-2-3), ranked No. 5 in this week’s RPI rankings, are in strong position to earn a national seed for the upcoming NCAA tournament and will look to enhance their status in the Big East tournament. USF hosts Thursday’s Villanova-Notre Dame winner in a conference tournament quarterfinal match at Corbett Soccer Stadium on Sunday a 1 p.m.

In other men’s soccer news, junior forward Dom Dwyer was named the Big East’s offensive player of the week for the third time in four weeks after scoring two goals and assisting on another in a 3-0 home win Oct. 26 against Cincinnati. Dwyer leads the Big East and is tied for fifth nationally with 16 goals this season.
