I tweeted this Thursday, but the family of the late Lee Roy Selmon - wife, Claybra, and his three children, Brandy, Chris and Lee Roy, Jr. - was invited by USF director of athletics Doug Woolard to participate in the pregame coin toss for Saturday’s home game against Florida A&M.
USF paid tribute to Selmon during last week’s home opener against Ball State at Raymond James Stadium, but the family of the Pro Football Hall of Famer and former USF athletic director was unable to attend because Selmon’s funeral service in Oklahoma was held that day. The gesture by Woolard will allow Selmon’s family to witness the support shown from the USF and Tampa Bay community.
—-Here’s a couple of links to stories from the past few days.
USF junior running back Darrell Scott displayed a penchant for trying to leap over defenders in a win over Ball State, but the biggest thing was he made a leap from Week 1 to Week 2, which Bulls coaches were glad to see.
And, USF coach Skip Holtz believes “The Dirty Dozen” is beginning to shape up nicely, with linebackers Armando Sanchez and Mike Jeune leading the way in the special teams group.
