Following a 44-17 loss to Pittsburgh on national television Thursday night, the University of South Florida dropped out of the Top 25 in the Associated Press and USA Today coaches polls this week.
USF, which entered the game against the Panthers ranked 16th in the AP and 14th in the USA Today polls, is still receiving votes in both polls after suffering its first loss. The Bulls (4-1) totaled 49 points from the coaches and 22 points from the writers, which essentially ranks them 29th and 31st, respectively.
—-I wasn’t able to post this until now, but here’s a link to my follow-up story from Pittsburgh. There was no question the loss to Panthers was a tough one for the Bulls to swallow, but it was just one loss, and the Bulls are looking forward to using their extended break to regroup for an Oct. 15 matchup at Connecticut.
—-And, just a note to our readers: With USF on a bye this week, I’ll also be out of the office for most of the week, trying to wrap up some vacation/furlough time that I still have available. But don’t worry….correspondent Michael Manganello will be helping out plenty with practice reports when the football team gets back to work Tuesday.
