UConn coach Jim Calhoun had seen enough when USF took a 45-32 lead, the biggest advantage for either team.
Calhoun pulled all five players from the game and inserted five new ones, three of them freshmen.
So far, the strategy has worked to a degree.
USF leads 50-40, but UConn is playing with more energy and focus.
