USF continues to lead Cincinnati here at the Sun Dome behind the hot shooting of Mike Mercer, who is 4 of 5 shooting for nine points.

Mercer has only hit double-figures once the past five games, so his contribution comes at a much-needed time with defenses geared to stop Dominique Jones and Augustus Gilchrist still trying to play his way back into the rotation.

With 3:40 left in the first half, USF leads 22-16.

Alex Rivas, who is playing extended minutes tonight in place of injured C Jarrid Famous, just picked up his third foul.

That could pose a problem in the second half.
