Another well-known collegiate football program has jumped into the recruiting picture for Armwood rising junior running back Matt Jones.
Hawks coach Sean Callahan said Jones picked up a verbal scholarship offer over the weekend from Southern California. The Trojans join a list that includes Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee to extend a verbal offer to Armwood’s starting tailback, who could end up being the area’s most sought-after player in the Class of 2012.
Jones led the Hawks with 682 rushing yards and scored eight rushing touchdowns as a sophomore, his first full season as a starter.
