Win or lose, center fielder B.J. Upton said he doesn’t think going to arbitration will be an issue this season.
He called the situation “unfortunate,” and agreed that both sides played a part in a deal not being struck before last week’s deadline.
The Rays offered Upton $3 million for this season. He wants $3.3 million.
One way to avoid an arbitration hearing is for the two sides to agree on a multi-year deal.
“I’m definitely all for that,” Upton said Monday morning before his chairty golf tournament in Tampa.
