Florida recruit Nimrod Tishman, a 6-foot-5 guard from Israel who was a late signee, has been cleared for competition by the NCAA.
Tishman enrolled at UF and has been in class but since he is from Tel Aviv, getting clearance was complicated and took more than a month to get through the clearinghouse.
The Gators’ first exhibition is on Nov. 2 against. St. Leo. Tishman was a vital addition because of Florida’s lack of depth in the backcourt.
“Nimrod can handle the ball but I don’t have a lot of expectations on him being a major contributor at all this year,’’ UF coach Billy Donovan said recently. “I do feel like he can come in and play for a few minutes and provide us the relief we need.”
