After forward/center Kenny Kadji asked to be released from the basketball team, the University of Florida granted his request, coach Billy Donovan announced Friday.
“After re-evaluating his situation, Kenny and I had the opportunity to sit down and talk about his future,” said Donovan. “Kenny has made a decision that it’s in his best interest to start new somewhere else. He’s still recovering from back surgery and working hard to get himself healthy. I wish him the best in his future.”
Kadji averaged 1 point and 0.8 rebounds per game in eight games before having back surgery last season. He would have entered 2010-11 as a redshirt sophomore, and was granted a medical redshirt for the 2009-10 season.
He averaged 3.7 points and 2.3 rebounds per game for his career at UF.
“While I’m sad that my time here at Florida is ending, UF will always be special to me,” said Kadji. “I have goals that I hope to reach and only a short window of my life to make those things happen.”
