Tampa Bay Tech senior defensive end Willie Firlow and junior defensive lineman Josh Smith both suffered injuries early in the Titans’ 48-26 victory Hillsborough on Friday.

Firlow was sidelined with a knee injury and as a result, is out for Friday’s playoff opener against East Lake, Titans coach C.C. Culpepper said. Firlow did not suffer an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury but could have a medial cruciate ligament (MCL) strain or partial tear. Culpepper said the extent of the injury should be known by Monday but either way, he says Firlow is out for Friday’s game.
Entering the Hillsborough game, Firlow had 33 tackles and led the Titans in sacks with six.

Smith, meanwhile, sustained a bad bruise to his knee’s patella but Culpepper said Smith should be able to play this week. For now, Smith is questionable for the game. Smith had 21 tackles prior to Friday’s game and three sacks.
TBT will host the Eagles in the regional quarterfinal contest Friday at 7:30 p.m.
