Note to self, whenever Quentin Williams says he can do something – believe him!
With his team trailing Hillsborough late in the game by seven points, the Jefferson quarterback helped lead a scoring drive, capped off by Eric Royster’s 2-yard touchdown run that made it 15-14 with one minute remaining. When Coach Mike Fenton asked Williams if he could make the two-point conversion, the junior didn’t hesitate. He said yes.

And he did, running it in for two points and a 16-15 victory for the Dragons. Williams was 12-of-19 for 231 yards. He also had 61 rushing yards and one touchdown. More importantly, he proved himself as a leader for the Dragons with his command of the offense.
It was the first time in three years Jefferson had won a regular-season opener. The Terriers had beaten the previous two seasons. It was a great way for Jefferson, who plays host to Newsome Friday night, to set a tone.
“That’s probably the biggest win we’ve had here in a while,” Fenton said. “It was a great way to start the season. The team developed a great camaraderie and are very close after that win.”
