I am not sure why Matt Smaby and Mike Egener are not on the roster for TC, but Andy Rogers is. Feaster brought in so many tweener defense men (Schneider, Jancevski and Lampman) and yet it seems he had the talent already, as far as Smaby, Rogers and Egener are concerned. Any idea what the deal is here? Are Rogers, Smaby and Egener all history?

I don’t think this means Smaby, Egener are history. Most people have Smaby penciled in as being the #6 or #7 dman in Tampa this year.
I think who’s going and who’s not going is more indicative of the depth chart. Rogers has had injury problems which have held him back in his development. The Bolts will want to give him a long look this year.
It will be interesting to follow this tournament, especially for the invitees. Norfolk is about at its limit for veterans, so it seems likely a number of these young players are having an audition of sorts to see if they could be signed to AHL only contracts and be sent to Norfolk or Mississippi this year. I have read some of the invitee’s profiles, and there seems to be some potential there.

Does anyone know anything about the D-1 kid from Northern Michigan? Big kid but not great numbers.
