USF announced Tuesday morning that tight end Mike McFarland has been granted an NCAA waiver that makes him eligible to play in 2011.
McFarland, who transferred from the University of Florida and joined USF’s program shortly after call camp began, has four years of eligibility with the Bulls beginning this season.
A local product of Tampa’s Blake High, McFarland (6-5, 240) was rated a four-star recruit and listed as the nation’s No. 12 tight end prospect by Scout.com coming out of high school. He signed with the Gators but spent just one season in Gainesville, redshirting in 2010.
