Tampa Catholic football coach Bob Henriquez is hoping to see the return of three players Friday night when the Crusaders travel to Valrico to take on Bloomingdale in a non-district game.
Those trying to return from injuries for the game against the Class 8A Bulls include defensive back/receiver Tyree Holder, who has recovered from a bruised knee, and two players who suffered ankle sprains, linebacker TJ Harrell and defensive back/running back/receiver Zach Dyer. Henriquez said Holder is definitely back but Harrell and Dyer will be game-time decisions.
Still needing at least another week to recover are safety Willie Conley (ankle sprain) and linebacker Alec Maughan (separated shoulder).
In other news from TC, Henriquez said two players, Hunter and Dallas Maclachan, have withdrawn from the school and are returning to attend school at River Ridge near their home in Pasco County. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Maclachan, a sophomore, had been kicking and seeing action at outside linebacker. Dallas, a freshman, was on the junior varsity playing running back.
With the recent loss of wide receiver Michael Clark, who left TC last month and enrolled in Boca Ciega, the Crusaders have lost three players during the season to transfers.
