Three players transfer to Florida

Florida volleyball coach Mary Wise added three more players to the roster today.

Outside hitter Stephanie Ferrell, junior outside hitter Cinthya Roberto and right-side Tangerine Wiggs are all transfers with something to offer the program.

“We had some needs that we feel the additions of Stephanie, Cinthya and Tangerine will fill. We look forward to getting them into the gym come August,” said Wise.

Ferrell (Los Angeles, Calif.), a junior transfer from Hawaii, made second-team All-Western Athletic Conference selection as a sophomore in 2009 and was part of the team’s NCAA regional semifinal appearance. She was also named to the NCAA All-Region team.

Roberto transferred from Blinn College, where she was the first two-time NJCAA Division I All-American in the school’s history. She ranked in the top-15 nationally in both kills and aces last season, averaging 3.69 kills per set and 0.55 aces per set.

Wiggs transferred after her freshman year at Washington State University.

Wiggs will have three seasons of eligibility, Ferrell and Roberto two.

The trio joins freshman setter Chanel Brown and freshman libero Taylor Unroe as the five new additions to the Florida roster in the upcoming season.

All three transfers will be eligible this year.
