A Look At The College Football Landscape: |

It seemed inevitable as soon as Oklahoma and Texas Tech took to the field in Norman, and on Monday it became official: OU is heading to the Big 12 title game instead of Texas.
A bit odd, one might say, considering Texas beat Oklahoma on a neutral field in October. But it’s the Sooners firmly in the driver’s seat for a spot in the BCS Championship Game, needing only to beat Missouri on Saturday. Mizzou, it’s worth noting, is coming off a home loss to Kansas.
Yes, Kansas. The same outfit that lost to USF earlier this year.
Now you can understand why Mack Brown was lobbying so openly last week for his Longhorns - he saw this coming.
But really, what’s the point in playing games in the first half of the season if they’re going to be forgotten by the end? Texas, ultimately, is being punished simply for losing in the closing seconds to Texas Tech on little more than a Hail Mary.
Yes, UT could end up playing in the BCS title game if Missouri stuns Oklahoma.
Then again, Utah (or Boise State, or Ball State) could end up in it as well.
Yep… and a playoff is right around the corner, too.
