I know there are a lot of people who would love to be at Sebring International Raceway today, but I think testing is boring! They don’t pass out any lap times so it’s hard to determine who’s doing best. all you can do is walk the pits and look at people’s faces. The ones who are smiling are doing pretty well, and the guys frowning are usually slower. But a boring day at the race track is better than any day in the office. The sun is shining, and all signs point to a great race Saturday.
The most spectacular car is the #99 Oreca FLM09 prototype in the new LMP Challenge class. Lead driver is Gunnar Jeannette, and this car is GREEN! Kermit The Frog should be the team’s mascot. The car has one of the most unique designs I’ve ever seen—with exotic flowers and meandering vines on a bright, bright green background. They call it the “Garden of Eden” design, but thankfully there are no snakes. The entire car is either painted or decaled with reflective paint/material so it will be the most visible car during Thursday night practice and in the final hours of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring late Saturday night. The color scheme also is very noticable during the day.
