Fresh off his impressive performance in Saturday’s Class 2B state championship football game, Tampa Catholic senior running back Hank McCloud has picked up a scholarship offer from Furman University, Crusaders coach Bob Henriquez said Tuesday.

McCloud, who gained 193 yards on 22 carries in TC’s 21-7 loss to Jacksonville Bolles in the title game, also has an offer from the U.S. Naval Academy, Towson University and has received strong interest from Harvard University. While Harvard, a Division III school, can’t offer an athletic scholarship, it can provide student-athletes like McCloud assistance with academic scholarships.
McCloud finished the season with 1,759 yards rushing on 223 carries and scored 16 touchdowns. Also this week, the 5-foot-8, 180-pound McCloud received an invitation to compete in the FACA North-South All-Star game, to be played Dec. 22 in Sebring.

Harvard (along with the other 7 Ivy League schools) is not Division III - it is Division 1-AA (now known as Football Championship Subdivision).
