Tampa Catholic football coach Bob Henriquez says his team has turned the corner on last week’s flu bug that swept through his team. Now he has one main concern for Friday’s season opener against Groveland South Lake: what to do if injured receiver Conner Louis is unable to play.

The 5-10, 160-pound junior received a deep, lower leg contusion in TC’s intrasquad scrimmage nine days ago. He could play with the injury, but Henriquez says Louis is still in quite a bit of pain.
As the Crusaders’ starting slot back, Louis is one of the most vital players in their offense. Henriquez says the position requires tremendous versatility and heads-up play because the player is relied upon to perform multiple tasks—including shifts, going in motion before the snap and blocking. If Louis is unable to suit up Friday in Groveland, Henriquez said he is unsure just who could fill the role.
Some of the candidates include running back Hunter Joyer, quarterback Christian Green and receiver Jordan Jones. Joyer and Green, of course, are needed elsewhere while Henriquez said Jones is still not 100 percent following his foot injury late last fall.
