Tampa Catholic junior fullback Hunter Joyer received his second official offer Wednesday and this one is an impressive one, both athletically and academically—Stanford University

“They (Stanford) saw his highlight film and fell in love with him,” said Crusaders coach Bob Henriquez. “They were really impressed with how versatile he is, his motor on both sides of the ball and how he gets stronger as the game goes on.”
The 6-foot, 238-pound Joyer, who at the recent Under Armour Combine turned in the top performance in the bench press with 34 reps at 185 pounds, already has an offer from Louisville, where his brother, Kamran, is an offensive lineman. Hunter is focusing his recruiting attention on schools that feature a fullback in their offense and is also interested in Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Florida, which could use the I-formation as part of its offense this fall.
Henriquez said Stanford could be a good fit for Joyer because he boasts a 3.3 grade point average and has scored well on a college preparatory standardized test. He also believes more schools will become interested in Joyer if more college coaches start looking away from the spread offense and more toward protecting the ball and improving clock management.
Besides Stanford’s academic and athletic reputation, Joyer’s father, Jack Joyer, says Stanford is also appealing because they have family in that area of California. In any case, Jack Joyer says Stanford is now his son’s top choice for college.
