Tampa Catholic fullback/linebacker Hunter Joyer and receiver/defensive back Conner Louis have landed invitations to the prestigious combine for juniors at the upcoming U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas, Crusaders head coach Bon Henriquez said Monday.

Henriquez is already heading to the game as the coach of one of the game’s participants, TC senior quarterback Christian Green. The game, played in the Alamodome, will be televised live Jan. 9, 2010 at noon on NBC. Besides accompanying Green, Henriquez will be taking part in coaching clinics.

Joyer and Louis, meanwhile, will work out in the invitation-only combine for juniors Jan. 8 in the Alamodome. Joyer (6-0, 245 pounds) is one of the area’s strongest players, with a max bench of 485 pounds. As a 13-year-old, Joyer set an age group world record of 375. He can also squat more than 500 pounds and has exceptional quickness, Henriquez said. He is closing in on 400 yards rushing this season and has 28 tackles.

Louis leads TC in receptions with 13 for 158 yards and one touchdown. He has also seen action in the Crusaders’ secondary.
