Tampa Catholic senior quarterback Christian Green, who has led the Crusaders to a 6-0 start, will receive his official invitation to the 2010 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in a ceremony Nov. 3 at the school.

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl, now in its 10th year, is a nationally-televised (NBC) high school football game staged each January in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Players are chosen by the Bowl’s Selection Committee, which is comprised of prep football recruiting experts from Rivals.com, nationally-recognized prep football scout Tom Lemming, and SportsLink. The committee nominates what it considers the nation’s top 400 seniors and from that pool, 90 players are chosen to play in the game on Jan. 9, which features an East versus West format.
Some of the game’s former players include Tim Tebow, Vince Young and Adrian Peterson. In last year’s NFL draft, eight former U.S. Army All-American Bowl athletes were among those selected in the first round and a total of 23 athletes who have played in the game went in the draft.
Green received his invitation earlier this year. At next week’s ceremony at Tampa Catholic, Green will be presented an official jersey for the game by a yet-to-be-announced U.S. Army officer, likely one from MacDill Air Force base, in front of a school assembly.
Meanwhile, Green’s teammate, offensive lineman Chaz Green, has been officially named to the roster of another prestigious post-season prep bowl game, the 2010 Under Armour All-American Game. The third annual event will be played Jan. 2, 2010 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg and be televised live by ESPN.
