Former Tampa Catholic star and current University of Florida freshman tackle Chaz Green underwent successful hernia surgery at Shands Florida Surgical Center on Friday morning, the school’s information office announced today.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Kfir Ben-David. Green is expected to return to action in 2-to-4 weeks, the school said. TC coach Bob Henriquez said he was unsure of how the hernia came about but had to spoken to Green’s father, who said his son was recovering fine and should be able to practice again within the announced time frame.
The 6-foot-5, 289-pound Green was a four-star prospect who was rated by Rivals.com as the No. 6 offensive lineman in the nation. He played in the 2010 Under Armour All-America Game and was named to the
Top 150 Dream Team by PrepStar Magazine. Last fall, Green played on both sides of the line for TC and helped the Crusaders post an 11-2 record and return to the Class 2B finals, where they lost to Jacksonville Bolles.
Green’s efforts on the offensive line helped TC post more than 3,000 yards in 2009. As a junior, Green was a second-team all-state selection in 2B.
