Tampa Bay Tech free safety Jerome Speights, a rising senior, has landed scholarship offers from Michigan State and Purdue, Titans coach C.C. Culpepper said Wednesday. It’s Speights’ first offers from Division I programs.
“He’s been under the radar a little bit but I think this will be the first of several [Division I schools] trying to sign him,” Culpepper said.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Speights has been a two-year starter for TBT at free safety. Last season, he had 72 tackles and five interceptions, Culpepper said. Speights received the Michigan State offer Tuesday and, after reviewing game film of Speights, got his offer from Purdue on Wednesday afternoon.
