Linebacker Sam Jones and defensive back Derrick McCray, two of Tampa Bay Tech’s senior defensive standouts, have made verbal commitments for their college football, Titans coach C.C. Culpepper said Thursday.

The 6-foot, 230-pound Jones has committed to Grand Rapids (Mich.) Community College while McCray has said he will play for Seton Hill, a Division II school in Greensburg, Pa.
“It’s a good fit for both players,” Culpepper said. “And it’s good to see us [TBT] to put two more deserving players into college football.”
Just two seasons ago, Jones was unsure if he would play the sport again as the result of a serious knee injury. Following surgery, he worked to rehabilitate the knee and was playing before the 2008 campaign was over. McCray (5-10. 180) has been a stalwart in the Titans’ secondary the past two seasons and has also seen duty as a kick returner.
