After seven years coaching soccer at Tampa Prep, including a state title in 2008 and a runner-up finish in 2009, Pam Smith’s contract with the school was not renewed prior to the 2009-2010 school year. Smith, who taught physical education at the school, said she was asked to remain as head coach, but declined because she didn’t have a teaching contract.
Smith, the two-time consecutive Tampa Tribune girls soccer coach of the year, is now serving as the junior varsity volleyball coach at Berkeley Prep.
One of Smith’s assistant coaches, Cindy Schofield, has been named as her replacement at Tampa Prep.
