Tampa Prep 6-foot-5 senior forward Jay Bowie received his first official offer on Tuesday from Marist College, Tampa Prep coach Joe Fenlon said.
Fenlon said interest for Bowie has steadily increased since the City of Tampa Championships and Tampa Hoops Classic tournaments in December, where he performed well against some of the top players in the Bay Area and in the nation.
Bowie has led the fifth-ranked Terrapins (25-4) with 16.3 points and 10.4 rebounds per game this season. Tampa Prep will play at Naples Community School in the 2A Region 3 championship Saturday at 7 p.m. Tampa Prep is seeking its second consecutive state tournament appearance and third in the last four years. The Terrapins have made five state tournament appearances overall.
Last year, Bowie, in his first season with Tampa Prep, emerged as one of the top players in Hillsborough County by leading Tampa Prep to the 2A state final four with 14.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.
