This week, the team is competing at the Louisville Slugger Independence Day Tournament in Colorado, where they are currently 2-1. But the Walt Team isn’t the only squad from Tampa Mustangs doign well in Colorado. Ray Seymour, the club’s director, said the 14U team is 4-0, the 16U team is 2-0, and the 18U Holle team is 2-0.
“It’s been a good week for us,” Seymour said.
Seymour said there are over 500 teams at the tournament, with close to 300 college coaches watching.

This team consists mainly girls from Hillsborough and Pinellas County along with a couple from Polk, Manatee and Orange. Local High Schools represented include Plant, Riverview, Newsome & Bloomingdale. Top 4 in the Nation! The other teams include 2 from California and a team from Alabama.
The tribune should follow-up and do a story on this team. Team FLA 16U.

Follow-up, Team FLA beat the Birmingham Vipers in the semi-finals.
Team FLA 16U played the Lady Magic from California and lost to finish in second place.
2nd place is the highest finish ever for a team from the state of Florida in this Invitation only National Event.
In 1996 a Florida team finished in 4th place. No other top 4 finishes since then.
So the girls made history and had a lot of fun in Colorado.
Way to go girls!
