Tampa Catholic rising senior quarterback Christian Green was one of 64 players from across the nation selected to compete in the first Champion Gridiron Kings, an event that coincides with the ESPN RISE Games.
The three-day event will be held July 23-25 at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando. The event features 64 of the best players in the game’s seven skill positions – quarterback, running back, tight end, wide receiver, linebacker, cornerback and safety - and it will include performance training, position specific training, skills challenges and a 7-on-7 competition. All of the players selected are in the Class of 2010. Green was the only local player selected.
Several former NFL players will offer instruction at the event, including former quarterbacks Jeff Blake and Browning Nagle, as well as former receivers Terance Mathis and Carl Pickens and former linebacker Hardy Nickerson, a former Tampa Bay Buccaneer.
The ESPN RISE Games is a week-long, multi-sport event that also includes the AAU Boys Basketball Super Showcase and the Under Armour All-America Softball Game.
