Tampa Catholic baseball coach Rich Arena has resigned his position to pursue other opportunities in baseball, the school announced in a press release Wednesday.
Arena spent three seasons as head coach of the Crusaders. During that time, he compiled a record of 51-24 and led Tampa Catholic to two playoff appearances. In 2009, Tampa Catholic finished 20-7 and claimed the program’s first district title since 2001.
“On behalf of Tampa Catholic High School, I’d like to thank Coach Arena for his years of service and positive direction in which he took our program and student-athletes. We are sorry to see him leave, but respect and understand that this is in the best interest for him and his family,” Tampa Catholic principal Tom Reidy said in a statement.
