Tampa Bay World Cup bid looking to break 50K barrier

Tampa Bay’s bid to become a host city should the 2018 or 2022 World Cup be awarded to the United States is closing in on 50,000 signatures from the bay area in the USA bid’s online petition.

With less than 2,000 votes needed, local organizers are hoping to break through that barrier today on what they are calling ‘50K Friday’, and are hoping local soccer fans will do their part to push the city through. In order to take part, you can either text ‘TampaBay’ to 22442 or go to the USA Bid committee’s Tampa website— www.GoUSABid.com/Tampa —and sign the online petition.

You can text as many times as you would like, standard message rates apply, and each text counts as a vote for Tampa Bay.

Tampa Bay currently sits fifth in votes out of the 18 cities chosen to be part of the United States’ bid, with Miami currently the leading vote-getter when the last set of totals was released.
