Surprise, Surprise: Armwood, Plant Make ESPN National Top 25

As if the regular-season opener between Armwood and Plant needed any extra hype, ESPN came through with a bit more Wednesday evening.

Not only will the game be televised nationally on ESPNU, but the game also now will pit a pair of national Top 25 programs against each other.

The ESPNRISE.com FAB 50 preseason national rankings released Wednesday has the Hawks at No. 14 and the Panthers at No. 20.

This is the first national high school poll released thus far to have both programs ranked in the Top 25, but not the first to rank both programs.

The PrepNation.com Preseason National Prep Poll, released earlier this week, had both teams in its national Top 50, with Armwood at No. 8 and Plant at No. 42.

The Hawks and Panthers play in the 2008 regular-season opener Sept. 5 at Dad’s Stadium.

Then FFB Mag with the Tampa Bay Cover (Aaron Murray-PLANT, Ryne Giddens-ARMWOOD, Demonte McCalister-ALONSO, Julius Forte-BOCA CIEGA, and Andreal Coleman-MIDDLETON) IS AVAILABLE at the following location (P&B dropped off a box of them today, so it is there)-

TEAMWORK IMPRINTED SPORTSWEAR
2403 S. DALE MABRY HWY

This is directly across the street from Plant High School, 1/2 block south of the Steak and Shake.

This will be the EXCLUSIVE location for this cover (may also be the only place in South Tampa that has the mag right now) in the Tampa area until approx. Aug 18th (when it should be available at CVS).

i agree with you Peanuts! this game will be entertaining, and it should be at RAY Jay. thats ok, nothing is as charming as Plant’s DAD’s stadium, just pack it out, surround the field. The Hawks did not want to do it last YR at RAY JAY when they had home field advantage, so Plant should’nt do it this year.

The poor stadium on fits like 6000 people.  Many people will be turned away.  If you move the game to a Thursday or Saturday night to Ray Jay, you’ll get the entire city coming to the game, including every notable and celebrity in town.  Everybody wants to see this game. Similar to what you see down in Miami with fans showing up in the 30,000 to 40,000 range. That easily covers costs.  But with the “can’t do” attitudes of school officials in the county, this is just too much work for them to pull off.
