USF softball coach Ken Eriksen has been busy recruiting local talent in Hillsborough County.
After picking up a commitment from Plant City junior shortstop Kristen Wyckoff for 2013, which was reported Tuesday, Eriksen has added a verbal pledge for 2014 from Strawberry Crest sophomore catcher/outfielder Mia Fung.
Fung ranked among Strawberry Crest’s leaders in every offensive category as a freshman, batting .436 with six doubles, two triples, four home runs, 28 RBIs, 32 runs scored and 35 stolen bases.
According to her father, Ryan, Georgia Tech, UCF and LSU also were expressing interest, but the opportunity to stay close to home so her family could watch her play was a deciding factor in choosing to accept an offer from the Bulls.
Speaking of USF softball, the Bulls have announced their 2012 schedule.
